- The Viennese Georg Eckmayr is an artist, researcher and lecturer.
He studied digital art at the class of Peter Weibel under whose supervision he also completed and defended his doctoral thesis on digital images.

Is it ME

Misunderstanding

What if our digital environment starts to develop ‘Eigensinn’, like an independent ecosystem, what if the fabric of our social interaction becomes agentic?
The first step of this work cycle shows the interpretation of a portrait (me) by an algorithm trained on landscapes. Since faces are not part of the training set and the facial structure does not match the patterns of trained landscape images, the algorithm failed creatively.
In a further step I created iterations embedding the resulting structure from the first process in varying other data sets trained on fur, wood, meat, funghi and crystals.
Where are the borders of the system ME within a certain environment? Which is the distinction, that defines the visual ME as a “two-sided form”?

I Can’t Find Silence (0.0a)
The work cycle consists of 10 audiovisual pieces that together form a larger composition. The works are part of a project, in which I experiment with a new model of identity — a distributed one.What if we used AI not to mirror ourselves, but to dissolve the boundaries of the self? / 2023-2026.
