Scanographies, C-Prints, mounted on aluminum / 2008
>> A firm grip.

I created these prints using a scanner, a process distinct from traditional photography. Unlike a camera, the scanner comes into direct contact with the object, entering the intimate space of the person and engaging closely with the material being depicted. Basic digital manipulation occurs as the image is captured; any movement of the person, object, or scanner introduces distortion. These movements generate a unique, liminal space that reveals the fluid interplay between the physical and digital realms.
